Ian joined Hilco in 2011. Highly-regarded as a bankruptcy attorney, Ian has a strong corporate law background as well having negotiated and closed transactions involving tens of billions of dollars of assets. He is responsible for negotiating and documenting transactions between Hilco's holding company, our various business units and outside transaction counterparties.
Ian brings a wealth of experience in multiple industry sectors, including automotive, airline, agricultural, banking, energy, financial service, manufacturing, real estate, retail, technology, and temporary staffing. Among the high-profile companies Ian has represented are Circuit City, Meridian Automotive Systems, DE Shaw, Black Diamond, Jackson Hewitt, and FLYi (f/k/a Independence Air d/b/a United Express). In fact, he was one of two principal attorneys responsible for managing the liquidation of Circuit City Stores, Inc. and its domestic and foreign subsidiaries, including more than $1.1 billion of inventory and approximately $500 million of other assets.
Prior to joining Hilco, Ian was with the law firm of Skadden, Arps, Slate Meagher & Flom, where he served in the Corporate Restructuring practice group. Earlier, he was with Young Conaway Stargatt & Taylor in its Bankruptcy and Corporate Restructuring group. Prior thereto, Ian served with a United States Bankruptcy Judge in the Bankruptcy Court in Philadelphia, PA, as well as the U.S. Attorney's Office in Philadelphia.
A Cum Laude graduate of Temple University Law School in May, 2003, Ian also attended St. John's University School of Law where he received an LL.M post-graduate degree in Bankruptcy law. He received a BA degree from Dickinson College in Carlisle, PA.
