Jeffrey R. Smith

Senior Managing Director – CDPQ

Mr. Smith was named Senior Managing Director at Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec (CDPQ) in May of 2019 and will manage the organizations digital transformation of investing in a large diversified pension fund. Prior to that time, Mr. Smith served as Operating Partner - Private Equity at CDPQ, responsible for the direct private equity business unit at the Canadian Pension Fund.

Mr. Smith’s previous roles include serving as CEO at Arago GmbH, one of the world’s leading artificial intelligence companies; General Manager at DXC Technologies, a global technology services company where he ran the strategic advisory services and integrated industry solutions team; Hewlett Packard Enterprise, where he held top positions as General Manger and COO, managing digital transformation offerings and programs for major vertical industries served by this leading consulting, systems integration and outsourcing firm; and, CEO/CIO at Kion Information Management, a multinational IT services company where he was responsible for transformational change at large multinational manufacturing and retail clients across the world. His extensive experience includes global leadership roles for management consulting, systems integration and business outsourcing enterprises often focused on value-creation work linking IT with private equity portfolio performance.

Mr. Smith is a veteran of Accenture having started his career at Anderson Consulting in 1991, where he held several leadership positions over 29 years, including Global Managing Partner for Retail and Consumer Goods, Managing Partner for Technology Innovation and Research, and Managing Partner for North America SAP-Consumer Industries.
