IT Project Manager (Workday)

The IT Project Manager plans, organizes, and integrates cross-functional information technology projects to deliver specific measured results to Hilco’s Business and it’s customers.

Candidates will have significant maturity and will have managed information technology projects that are significant in scope and impact.  An emphasis will be placed specifically on ERP System implementation experience and in particular Workday HR and Financials implementations.  Incumbents will coordinate the work of all levels of professionals and administrative staff across all Hilco functions and disciplines as needed to successfully complete projects across the entire information.

Responsibilities:

  • Develops project plans, goals, and budgets; identifies resources needed, develops schedules and methods for measuring results
  • Guides and performs strategic analysis for the project
  • Organizes and manages all phases of the project to ensure on-time, on scope, on budget completion
  • Work with outsourced implementation vendors as primary Hilco Business-side  Project Manager
  • Manages changes to all project schedule, scope, deliverables, and budgets
  • Manage customer expectations so that project change and it’s impacts are recognized early
  • Uses project scheduling and control tools to monitor project plans, resources, work hours, budgets, activities, expenditures, etc. to communicates progress and status to interested parties
  • Be the main point of contact on all project related information and activities
  • Ensure that project risks are identified, understood and are managed throughout the project lifecycle
  • Assembles and coordinates project team members; assigns individual responsibilities
  • Ensure that contracted liabilities, obligations and rights are understood and controlled
  • Prepares requests for proposals and conducts all necessary meetings to facilitate selection of project services and products
  • Monitors contracts including review and approval of pay requests and change orders; maintains regular communication with service provider
  • Troubleshoots project problems and recommends thoughtful and creative solutions
  • Plans and oversees the preparation and dissemination of project communications.
  • Reports to Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and works with CTO and the Business to ensure adequate resources are applied to the project to ensure success
  • Communicates and works with all levels of IT staff, project sponsors, functional area managers and/or consultants regarding status of specific projects, deliverables, work in process, etc. Produces project reports for the project team manager, sponsor, and CTO

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

A confident and mature individual that possesses

  • Knowledge and experience in cross-functional project management methods and techniques
  • Knowledge of information technology applications, processes, software and equipment
  • Knowledge of and experience with  ERP System Implementations  is required
  • Knowledge of and experience with Workday Financials and HR is a significant plus
  • Knowledge of the techniques for managing cross-functional teams
  • Skill in planning and preparing written communication
  • Skill in technical planning of information technology projects
  • Skill in working with groups to build consensus
  • Skill in effectively serving a divergent customer base
  • Ability to synthesize project requirements and information and establish the appropriate scope of a project
  • Ability to apply strong project management skills and methodologies.
  • Ability to create new work processes
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of personnel including executive management

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Management Information Systems, Business Administration or related field
  •  Minimum of 5-7 years project management experience in an Information Technology environment
  • Certification in PMP, CMP, Six Sigma or other project management frameworks a significant plus
  • Excellent communication skills at/with all levels of staff and management
