About the Position


Hilco Redevelopment Partners is seeking an enterprising and enthusiastic Senior Tax Associate to support a national real-estate development platform.  We are seeking a talented, outgoing, and motivated individual with a financial and tax accounting background, interpersonal skills, and industry experience that is looking to grow with our organization and build a long and successful career.  The Senior Tax Accountant will support all aspects of the income tax accounting and reporting process for Hilco Redevelopment Partners. 

The candidate should have a minimum of three to five years of experience in partnership income taxation with a focus on the real estate industry.  The individual will be based in our downtown Chicago office and will report to the Tax Director.  This person will work with our expanding finance team at Hilco Redevelopment Partners and play a key role in achieving Company and investor tax objectives given a broad range of challenging tax issues. 

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with outside tax service providers, including detailed review of all tax returns.
  • Prepare tax workpapers, income tax projections and tax estimates.
  • Manage and maintain tax compliance and investor reporting deadlines.
  • Participate in strategic tax planning and structuring related to complex real estate transactions.
  • Assist with tax process and technology improvement initiatives.
  • Support Hilco Redevelopment Partners accounting staff with all aspects regarding tax compliance and planning, including preparation of tax adjusting journal entries.
  • Perform special projects and ad-hoc analyses which are determined by senior management.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Master’s Degree in Taxation or related field
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of partnership income tax experience.
  • Strong background in federal, state and local income taxation for commercial and development real estate required.
  • REIT experience a plus but not required.
  • Ability to multitask and meet all deadlines in a dynamic work environment.
  • Exceptional technical skills and analytical capabilities with strong attention to detail (MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.).
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with comfort in interacting at all levels, both internal and external to the organization.
  • Proficiency with software and system applications and ability to learn internal applications.Yardi experience is preferred but not required.
  • Possess a strong work ethic, personal and professional integrity, with a positive attitude.
  • Ability to work independently.
