About the Position

HRP is seeking an enterprising and enthusiastic Tax Manager to support a national industrial real-estate development platform.  We are seeking a talented, outgoing, and motivated individual with a financial and tax accounting background, interpersonal skills, and industry experience that is looking to grow with our organization and build a long and successful career.  The Tax Manager will be responsible for managing all aspects of the income tax accounting and reporting process for HRP. 

The candidate should have a minimum of five to seven years of experience in partnership income taxation with a focus on the real estate industry.  The individual will be based in our downtown Chicago office and will report to the Tax Director.  This person will work with our expanding finance team at HRP and play a key role in achieving Company and investor tax objectives given a broad range of challenging tax issues.  The Tax Manager for HRP will work with a cross functional Hilco Global team of tax professionals and outside service providers to meet on-going business tax requirements and obligations.  


  • Manage multiple U.S. service providers and income tax compliance, including detailed review of all tax returns.
  • Participate in strategic tax planning around advising investment personnel in structuring complex real estate transactions around tax considerations.
  • Assist with tax process and technology improvement initiatives.
  • Manage business processes and/or projects, as well as helping to set priorities and measurable objectives, related to all tax-related matters.
  • Assist with the Hilco Global tax team’s management of legal entities.
  • Assist HRP and Hilco Global accounting staff with all aspects relating to tax compliance and planning, including adjusting journal entries.
  • Perform special projects and ad-hoc analyses which are determined by senior management.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Master’s Degree in Taxation or related field; CPA required.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of partnership income tax experience.
  • Strong background in federal, state and local income taxation for commercial and development real estate required.
  • REIT experience a plus but not required.
  • Ability to multitask and meet all deadlines in a dynamic work environment.
  • Exceptional technical skills and analytical capabilities with strong attention to detail (MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.).
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with comfort in interacting at all levels, both internal and external to the organization.
  • Proficiency with software and system applications and ability to learn internal applications.Yardi experience is preferred but not required.
  • Possess a strong work ethic, personal and professional integrity, with a positive attitude.
  • Ability to work independently.
