Hilco Global completes its 'Warm the Winter' Philanthropy Initiative Delivering Over 9500 New Winter Coats and Accessories in Major Cities Across the Nation

Hilco donated $1.8 Million of new winter coats to families in underserved communities in Philadelphia, Jersey City, Boston, and Chicago, concluding this week at Instituto del Progreso Latino in Chicago’s Little Village neighborhood

International financial services firm Hilco Global, the world’s preeminent authority on asset valuation, monetization, and advisory services, today announced the completion of its “Hilco Helps Warm the Winter” coat giveaway campaign by donating an additional 3,500 brand new winter coats to underserved residents in Jersey City, NJ and throughout the Little Village neighborhood in Chicago, IL.

The Hilco Global team coordinated their latest coat donation delivery in New Jersey with the state’s Pandemic Relief Fund, a philanthropic effort supported by First Lady Tammy Murphy and the Salvation Army. Additionally, in Chicago’s Little Village Neighborhood, Hilco worked with the Community School called Instituto del Progreso Latino and held a drive-thru distribution program to give away hundreds of new winter coats to residents in need. The latest donation of 3,500 coats given out this week completes a 3-month long philanthropic coat donation program that began in December of 2020 as part of its Hilco Helps ongoing philanthropy effort.

The Hilco Helps winter coat donation program leveraged Hilco Global’s unique expertise as a retail and wholesale inventory expert enabling the company to purchase new, high-end winter coats and accessories at a great value and donate coats to families in underserved neighborhoods across the nation. In total, Hilco Global gave away more than 9,500 coats and thousands of winter apparel accessories in 4 cities, worth approximately $1,800,000 at retail.

“The economic shutdown resulting from the global pandemic, along with the colder than usual winter, has continued to negatively impact families, particularly in black and brown communities throughout the country,” said Jeffrey B. Hecktman, CEO and Founder of Hilco Global. “Our initial ‘Hilco Helps Warm the Winter’ donation events were such a success, and the need is so great, our employees wanted to extend the program and help as many families as possible,” Hecktman said.

Gary Epstein, Executive Vice President and CMO at Hilco Global, offered thanks to the local organizations that helped coordinate the distribution efforts in all four cities setting up safe and socially distant facilities during the pandemic and ongoing citywide shutdowns. Specifically, Epstein thanked New Jersey First Lady Tammy Murphy and the New Jersey Pandemic Relief Fund; The City of Boston and Mayor Marty Walsh; The City of Philadelphia Office of Children and Families Community Schools; The Salvation Army of New Jersey and Philadelphia; and over 40 local community groups throughout the city of Chicago, such as It Takes A Village, Metropolitan Family Services, Holy Family Ministries, Instituto del Progreso Latino, and El Hogar Del Nino.

Epstein said, “At Hilco Global, we prioritize giving back to those in need across the country. We believe deeply in serving as a good corporate citizen, and I’m so proud of all our employees who have embraced our Hilco Helps philanthropic initiatives over the years.”
